We've all been overwhelmed with the concept of the mind-body connection. Naturally, we've heard phrases like "we are what we eat" and "food is fuel," but what about our thoughts? How do our daily and yearly experiences influence our thoughts, and in turn, how does this affect our health?

The emotional trauma we endure over our lifetimes, such as losing loved ones, failed relationships, and physical or emotional abuse, exemplifies how energy can become obstructed. These experiences often manifest as trapped energy within our bodies. Everything, including our thoughts, is energy. When we are unable to completely process a painful or unpleasant event, the energy and accompanying thoughts become trapped in the body, potentially affecting nearby cells, organs, and tissue negatively. This marks the initial stage of disease and illness in the human body.

The routines of overly caffeinated days, unsatisfying jobs, or feelings of self-blame and guilt for not spending enough time with our children lead to negative or low vibrational thoughts (energy). Consequently, when something upsetting occurs, we struggle even more to process and clear the event, instead storing that low energy within our bodies. This cycle continues repeatedly. As children, many of us were told not to cry when we were hurt emotionally. We were advised to toughen up, as the world is harsh, or worse, that it was for our own benefit. This list continues, illustrating how we develop unhealthy coping mechanisms to endure the numerous disappointments and traumas we face. Often, from a young age, we are conditioned to be predisposed to emotional distress and potential long-term health issues.

All unresolved emotions have an energy to them. Everything in the Universe, on this planet, is made up of energy…including our thoughts! Painful emotions, not released, create low energy and/or life force (chi) energy blocks. These blocks can negatively impact both the emotional and physical well-being in an otherwise healthy individual and have the potential to manifest in physical/emotional illness. The impact on the physical takes place on a cellular level which is the breeding ground for aches, pains, illness, tumors, autoimmune disease etc.

As a Reiki practitioner and energy healer, I can assist in liberating the flow of life force energy. Essentially, Reiki is a healing method that allows the practitioner to serve as a facilitator, helping clients release their blockages. Across the United States, Reiki is gaining recognition as a mainstream holistic healing approach and is being provided to patients in major healthcare systems alongside traditional Western medicine.

In conclusion, exploring alternative healing methods is worthwhile. We each have the capacity for self-healing, yet sometimes the support and guidance provided by Energy workers are essential. Our community is as diverse as the communities we inhabit, so find an Energy worker who aligns with your spiritual and healthcare objectives. Many are answering the call at this time, as numerous individuals are awakening to their talents and are prepared to share their unique healing specialties.
